True Friends

So I’ve been requesting and receiving questions lately. This is yet another one. Please feel free to contribute…

Who is a true friend?

Before we can fully comprehend the meaning of true friendship; we must first discern who a friend is and if their is a clause in that definition that permits for fake- Something that is not true.

This in itself will imply that we have understood the meaning of truth; to be able to identify fake.

In defining these two terms- Friend and True; we’ll be able to accurately answer the question of who a true friend is.

“This is a person who you know well and who you like a lot, but who is usually not a member of your family”-

The Clause
This definition like any other talks about a one way relationship that should go both ways. Yes this definition applies to your friends to, but the questions is, do they consider you friends?- for then, and only then, will this definition be accurate.

A lot of people that we are friends with aren’t friends with us.
A friend is not just someone in whose life you are involved in, a friend is someone that is involved in you life- Double ST

Something that is in accordance with fact or reality. Accurate and genuine.

  • True Friendship therefore entails mutual understanding, agreement, respect, growth, etcetera. The key word there is mutual. We often think “people knowing us” is synonymous with “true friendship”, but no. Answering phone calls or replying text messages doesn’t make you a friend- it just means you respond to INITIATED CONVERSATIONS from someone that considers you a friend. Friends are initiators as well as people that respond to messages (In whatsoever form). Friendship has to be MUTUAL. It is however not a competition on who does more.
  • A true friend triggers the buttons that make you want to be a better person. A friend adds value to your life and vise versa. What this means is that, if there are people whom you call friends in your life and have successfully kept you stagnant or regressing, then they are not true friends and must be acknowledged as such. It is OK to know them, but not everyone needs to be your friend.
  • A true friend knows the advanced setting of your life and would never judge you but will always be ready to correct and support you in love.
  • True friendship is not jealous nor will it cause you to sin and vise versa.
  • A true friendship is a group of people of similar attractions and connections. A people that can coexist without altering their vision, mission and core values. A people that share ideas and want to see each other grow, and would allow each other grow.
  • A true friend is not someone you form a bond with so they can help you, but what kind of friendship would it be if they (or you) have the opportunity to help and withhold it.
  • True friendship is real, honest and loyal.

The list goes on and on and might be able to provide you with much more information on the idea of true friendship. What I have done is set a platform for you to ask yourself if you are a true friend. It’s not enough to want genuine friends- Are you one? Do you listen? Do you make out time for friends? Once again, Are you a true friend?

What’s most important???

I’m writing something a little bit different today; focusing on family, relationship and life. We live in a very fast generation where “people forget to remember” to consider; so long as they are fulfilling an aspect they think (and not know) is covering all others. A generation just like chess (where the loser is the opponent whose focus was only on his moves), were misunderstandings arise from thoughts never made sure. It is very easy to take for granted things freely gotten; the most important things of life… I pray this little piece gives a picture of what never to ignore….

What’s most important???

It’s the time you invest,

Not the by-products of “thought never made sure…”

It’s the company you keep,

Not the gifts you give.

It’s not the comfort of life you give,

It’s the comfort you share.

It’s not your accomplishment noted by your absence,

It’s the achievement portrayed by your presence.

It’s never found in doing,

What’s most important, is in “Being”

It’s never an “I THOUGHT”

It’s always an “I KNOW”…

Don’t you ever think, your hard work, putting food on the table, paying the bills and in such nature, are what’s most important; while those are important, they are not what’s most important…

“The best things in life aren’t things”… Art Buchwald.

“The things you provide for your loved ones should never spend more time than you do with those you provided them for; spend quality time with your loved ones, don’t give things to do that for you”… Olabode Oluwatosin.

Catching Hearts- The Movie Review

When deciding to watch a movie, what usually comes to mind? Would the movie entertain you? Would it be a blessing to you? or even entertain while blessing your life? Well, here comes a movie that sure promises to do both… CATCHING HEARTS… A movie written and directed by F.C. RABBATH.

“Unless denial; everybody that knows, knows there is a God.”-Olabode Oluwatosin

Centuries have come and gone and the world is still perplexed as to whether or not there is a God. It is without doubt that everyone, science inclusive, believes; there is a greater being responsible for the “ultimate reach”; that stage were man’s wisdom comes to a close. However, the Christian God spoken off from the bible, has given man “since time and to come” questions as to whether or not He created the world.

Where’s prove that God exist? What if you are wrong? Why did this happen if there is a God? Should you talk about God; to whom? When? And the likes-

The role to this part is played by an atheist character; Mark Gravin (Mark A. Marple), who starts the movie with a book titled “We Don’t Need God” and towards the end of the movie, is writing a book titled, “We Need God”.

Another attraction to this movie is, the role played by Jenny (Jada Sanders), a lady in love but whose relationship lacks mutual understanding and respect, and even greater, is the fact that a child under her watch gets missing, hmmm…

We see in this movie also, a Christian father trying to bond with his alcoholic son Dean (Michael Varde), who seems to have given up on life.

An amazing fact about this movie is how all these stories are joined together to produce a single undiluted message of truth.

Catching hearts is a movie that draws our minds back to an all important question, does God exist? It shows a teenage character that thinks he is living life yet doesn’t  know what life is- It teaches conviction, but more importantly, what should or is usually done when convicted. It’s no doubt, things (representing environmental, social status etc.) never remain the same after you turn a new leave, but this movie as scripture affirms it, shows its always worth it. All through this movie, you will see things that seemingly look like coincidence, but at the end of it all, you realize it was always God’s timing and always accurate…

“Coincidence is God’s way of remaining anonymous.”-Albert Einstein

This movie cuts across life, friendship, family and the society at large, and it uses inspiration from God to teach wisdom. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom… -proverbs 9:10 (Kjv).” This movie references God, thus the wisdom it portrays. I really recommend this movie to all; the theme songs are also amazing.

God bless.

A Review by: Olabode Oluwatosin

If as a gentleman you are in a relationship with a lady that dresses half naked (exposes her body, in other words, dresses indecently) and you have not spoken to her, even though she shows everyone what you are meant to later see all alone in your marriage, then you do not love but only lust after her to an extent; the other part is that you are suffering from low self-esteem. The standard to which she meets with you and your friends is her nudity. She does not look presentable if she’s well dressed (or you would have told her) to your friends, or else, why haven’t you told her? Remember everyone presents the best of what he has when it comes to showing people… This will be understood by only those with a foundation.

Isn’t it funny how you can almost come to church early just so you can almost seat in front…

                                                                                    Oluwatosin Olabode

Have you understood the bible so much that it’s only your understanding that is correct, even the leading of the Holy Spirit, the appropriate prescription to understanding the bible is wrong? Who do you think you are, a fool? “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1st Corinthians 2:14”…no wonder you read the bible and still say there is no God.

                                                                                     Oluwatosin Olabode

Speaking biochemistry terms to a computer science student makes no sense unless someone or something in biochemistry explains it to him, likewise God; His ways are not our ways, to understand Him you don’t ask man because he would not know, he can only try, only the Holy Spirit can tell you the ways of God, as He is God, so when an honest man tries, it’s through the leading of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, in other for the bible to make sense to you, ask the Holy Spirit not your brain…

                                                                                        Oluwatosin Olabode

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,  that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

                                                                                       2nd Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

                                                                                        John 14:26 NKJV

The above quotations are on the basis of the Christian faith. We are God’s creation and the manual to understanding our essence and every thing in existence is the bible which has a prescription to reading it.
