Hidden Opportunities in Critical Conditions-

Hello my awesome followers and amazing readers!
Today, I’ll be writing on a very important subject- ‘The Opportunities in critical Conditions’. God forbid that we would go through a difficult phase in our lives and make a waste of the reason we were there in the first place ( the football term for that is 2-0).

Acts 16: 16-34
The justification for the people that wanted Paul and Silas to be imprisoned is found in vs 21 NAS, and are proclaiming customs which it is not lawful for us to accept or to observe,  BEING ROMANS (compare this verse to 35-40, with key focus on 38), even though their motivation came from verse 19 NIV, when the owners of the slave girl realised that their hope of making money was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to face the authorities.

Have you ever been in an office were everybody else wanted you ‘fired’ because you wouldn’t collect bribe? At that point, they do not care whether or not you are coworkers- all they know is that you are a stumbling block to their ‘unholy and greedy’ acts. Have you ever been at that point?
Did you notice that when they plotted their evil graphs, they tried to appeal to the conscience of the group? (they will never report you for being a honest fellow,  but will rather look for a fault so they seem selfless)
This occurs in our everyday lives- in Church – at School- in our Relationships- you name it; Everywhere. ‘He’s got to go’…. I don’t want to hear it, He’s got to go!

What do you do when in such a situation?

Do you lose your cool and be all gangster on them and miss purpose? Or
Do you for fear/favour fall prey to their devices and still miss the opportunity therein?

When for innocence, you are persecuted- what do you do? From the context of today’s message,  what should you do?

Vs 16-24 (AMP) tells us a story of a lady that was possessed by a spirit of divination (claiming to foretell future events and to discover hidden knowledge), which translated to alot of profits for those that owned her; and how Paul commanded the spirit out in the name of Jesus. There was nothing wrong with the doings of the Apostles- it was the right thing to do; even the ‘masters of the girl’ knew this for a fact- that was the major reason they couldn’t report that that was the offence the Apostles committed, and so they paraphrased the motive behind their anger to the appeal of their audience, so much so that they got the support and backing of the crowd.

Then the rulers commanded them to be thrown into prison after been beaten without trail or reason (Vs 22b-23).

Has anyone ever given up on you without the decency of a reason?
Have they thrown you into the dungeon for the guilt of their immoral conscience?

The instruction was so strict that the jailer put them in the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks (Vs 24)

If you’ve ever found yourself in such a time as this, or you know someone in situations similar or worse than this- Hold On- to the Christians suffering persecution all over the world- HOLD ON, DO NOT WAVER! remain true to who you are and do not give up on God- He still gat you- He’s got something only you can accomplish in such a place, at such a time.

We see in verse 25 (NIV) that the attitude of Paul and Silas did not change. They kept to their prayers and praises– Remember in verse 16a (NAS), it happened that as they were going to the place of prayer…. So even pro – persecution, they did not change their attitude or mindset (Isn’t it funny how we see God unfaithful anytime the going gets tough). They didn’t keep quiet because they were not in church (remember where the heart of worship is, John 4: 20-24), they knew the were the church and so whether in a physical parish or prison, they were ready to pray and praise, because they understood that the place of prayer is an opportunity to evangelise-

Vs 25b, and the other prisoners were listening to them. WOW! The prisoners weren’t just hearing them by reason of sound,  they were actually concentrating- listening to them. Wow- what a lesson!!!

What comes out of your mouth when things don’t go your way?
When instead of finding your heart desires, people trick you and push you to the limits, what do people hear coming out of your mouth as they listen to you?

Paul and Silas understood that whether in the ‘place of prayer’, or in ‘prison’- Every location is an opportunity for them to introduce somebody to meet Christ Jesus.

Asides church on Sunday, where else do people see Jesus in you?

Verse 26-34 KJV
And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed. And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, And brought them out, and said Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

In Vs 25, after Paul and Silas had communicated with God via prayer and praises, the next couple of verses explain that the jailer wanted to kill himself because his job was ‘on the line’ and subsequently his life. The bible doesn’t tell us that they couldn’t have escaped, but it records that they stayed. Two things I want us to get from this
They PHYSICALLY saved a life.
When the going gets tough and you’ve done all you can do and it seems as though you are ‘going for dead’ and an escape route shows up that is illegal- what do you do? This is a very critical situation, because, every time you take the easy way out that is illegal; a soul is lost. The reason you are were you are,  the way you are, enduring this persecution, is because somebody needs to be saved (you might not know it or even see it, but just like Paul and Silas, you are saving that jailer). When you commit to God in truth and in spirit,  He will never send an ungodly act to rescue you, He is a God of principle- He will always rescue you appropriately.
They SPIRITUALLY saved a family.
They brought a man and his family into salvation.  There is nothing as pure and real as a live lived so evidently to the glory of God. People might not be convinced about your words towards Christ, but there is no way,  that they would see you in action living and leading a Christ-like life and not be convicted about it (remember the woman at the well- the feeding of 5 thousand men? So it was with the evidence of the Christ-like life they lived, the jailer surrendered and sought after salvation- Together with his family.

Now, just imagine what would have happened if Paul and Silas had escaped…
Then, think of the jailer and his family….

Matthew 5: 10-12
Blessed and happy and enviably fortunate and spiritually prosperous (in the state in which the born-again child of God enjoys and finds satisfaction in God’s favour and salvation, regardless of his outward conditions) are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake (for being and doing right), for theirs ìs the kingdom of heaven!
Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things against you falsely on My account.
Be glad and supremely joyful,  for your reward in heaven is great (strong and intense), for in this same way people persecuted the prophets who were before you. (2 chronicles 36:16).

Identity- WHO ARE YOU?

‘No matter how old (or long) a ‘man’ is (or has lived), without an identity; he is yet to exist’-Sst

Every ‘man’ needs an identity. He needs a name. He needs somewhere to belong. He needs to know who he is…

Have you been called a failure?

Have they told you, you are not good enough?

Have you been called useless?

Or are you like Jacob a ‘Trickster’?

You are not just industrious

You are so classless

You are a bastard child

You are a man without purpose

You are not who the world (devil and sinful people) says you are. You are who God says you are

Have you grown to believe what people said about you- that you just ain’t good enough?

Have you grown to believe the lies others told you- that you will never be better than the present state of your life?

Has your life now become this lie?

Have you believed so much, you are now the lie, such that,

You keep failing

You can’t keep a relationship

You con your way to success

You have become the definition of F.A.K.E

You might have done what people said you did but you are never what people say you are

To understand your identity, you must look to God to reveal. Your identity can only be found in Christ, and in His Word. Here are a few things He’s said about you:

You are born of God… 1 John 5:18

You are fearfully and wonderfully made…Psalm 139:14

You are alive with Christ… Ephesians 2:5

You have the peace of God…Philippians 4:7

You have been set free… Galatians 5:1

You are more than a conqueror… Romans 8:37

You are an overcomer… Revelation 2:11

You are an ambassador… 2 Corinthians 5:20

You are a citizen of a holy nation… Exodus 19:6

You are a chosen generation… 1 Peter 2:9

You are a friend of God… John 15:15

You are the head and not the tail…Deuteronomy 28:13

You are God’s temple… 1 Corinthians 6:19

You are blessed… Ephesians 1:3

You are a peculiar treasure… Exodus 19:5

You are created in the image of God… Genesis 1:27

You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you… Philippians 4:13

You are a son of the Most High God. You have been purchased by the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. You are a joint heir with Christ- a priest of the King of kings. There’s greatness in your bones and in your bloodline… Galatians 4:6-7

Dear Lord, please ‘help me to see me the way you see me. I see where I am, but you see where I shall be’.

What is your identity? What’s that thing that makes you recognizable?

Freedom from Negativity

This is my last post for the year, and it is quite a read. I pray you God’s grace in reading it till the very end, Amen.

This month signifies the birth of Christ, the basic reason He came is to set us free from ALL (as in this case my depression, and likewise you, your ——–, amongst others). The birth of Christ is PERSONAL, His essence is personal for everyone and so, amidst all the Partying, Celebrations, Religion and etc. MAKE SURE HIS BIRTH HAS BEEN ENCOUNTERED BY A SITUATION IN YOUR LIFE…

We have done enough celebrations in light of the public holiday given on Christmas day- the birth of Christ has become so lose in some hearts, that it is been equated with democracy day or world health day; just another public holiday-

The birth of Christ is the solution to your life situations, He came to exchange His life for our own, understanding this truth and testifying to the goodness of His coming is the greatest celebration you can give-

Just as people sew new cloths for Christmas, I have likewise sewed a new WORD for my Christmas. This piece is dedicated to the broken hearted, those who are (or have ever) been depressed, to those hurting, those that thought all hope was lost, to the helpless, and most importantly, to whoever gets to read this-

Dear God,
This message came in writing, in such a time as this, I pray it speaks to the hearts you “came, died and resurrected for, I pray your healing power and essence be accomplished in us in Jesus name, Amen.

-Freedom from Silence-

Dear silence,
Please keep quiet;
Without a word,
I hear you too loud… too clear…

You are a comforter when I’m depressed,
A shelter whenever I’m lost,
A home for my self-pity,
My breath in low self esteem-

Yet I’m still here
Dying on the inside
For some reasons to be made known,
annulling the thought of suicide; again.

I tell self,
Deceiving myself with this lie,
“No one will understand you,
but if you must, tell it to yourself
no one else will understand you.”

And so, for too long
I wallowed in loneliness,
Though I was surrounded by people
I was very much always alone.

I was eclectic with my decisions,
I felt I couldn’t have been wrong;
I was in so much pain, it made
Childbirth’s pain, look as painless as
bathing a child and so I thought,
“This has to be my best option
Being silent meant I was on the right track.”

I couldn’t tell anyone,
Not my lover
Not even the Lover of my soul,
I became isolated,
An embodiment of sadness…

I learnt how to fake a smile,
I learnt how to be defensive,
I learnt how to read people;
thus picking meaning from almost anything-

It wasn’t always like this though,
I once tried to talk,
But I was induced with more problems,
Rather than a simple hand of solution

I wanted a friend,
But I got someone that grew distant.
I wanted a brother,
But I got someone that didn’t bother.
I wanted a listener,
But I got someone that was just hearing.
I wanted you
But all I got was someone that didn’t care enough.

With this much pain,
I found me a sedative,
I found succor in SILENCE
Keeping the pain to myself;
seemed to be the best option,
at least no one will induced more hurt…

I hear you too loud… too clear…
For too long-

But, things are different now,
They are getting better,
I see a light in my tunnel,
Someone reminded me of JESUS,
The one who allows me cast my care upon him,
The one who isn’t judgmental
as he is careful in caring for me,
The one who gives rest to the heavy laden,
The one who gives peace to the soul,
The one with understanding,
The one who LISTENS,
The only one who heals no matter how deep…

My trust-
Its been abused once to many
Honestly, it has made me pessimistic,
Nonetheless… I felt I should give him a try,
And so I opened up to him
I told him about the weight I had been lifting
My tears fell right on his shoulder…
It became crystal clear,
He is the light in my tunnel.
Do not misread the next couple of lines;
I’m still in the walking process making progress-

I feel lifted
I am calmer
I feel joy
I know I have someone that will listen;
a friend always closer than a brother
I’m lighter
I know I have someone that understands

“You need to speak up
Silence spreads within you like cancer,
And kills faster than a bullet to the heart-
It’s when people HEAR you,
that you become more depressed.
Find someone that will LISTEN:
Family, counselor, mentor,
Boyfriend, Girlfriend, neighbor,
Whoever… but don’t be desperate as to anyone,
Make sure it’s someone that will listen,
Someone with the active heart of God-

Don’t keep silent
You need to speak up”

Silence; be quiet!!!
I want to speak-
Christ in me, is as well as in others
I’ve found someone I can talk to,
Someone in whom I find God’s PEACE
(D title ascribed to d heart that listens)
I pray you find yours too…

This is a story of someone recovering from depression through the walking grace of God. I am not here to debate whether or not God’s influence is involved. His birth is the reason for salvation; His coming is a reminder that we are more than able to overcome the negativities of this world. I pray just as I have tapped into this anointing, you too will-

Merry Christmas,

With love,

To Worship You, I Live

Art by keenea

Undoubted assurance…
The nature I am in you…

Yes Father
I hear you
Your mercies are new
every morning…

I see “the Truth”
Lord, I see “you”
I feel your Spirit
That’s why I’m here…

In a glimpse of you
I capture my essence
I grasp my nature…
The world becomes invisible
I begin to dwell in your presence
I begin to abide under your shadow
The home of peace…

Once in your presence
There is calmness amidst the storm…
In that still moment
I know you; I know you my God…

And so-
I lift my hands in worship
My soul cries out your praise,
As I see myself in you
I let myself completely loose in you...

My heart says
“To worship you, I live”…

Kingdom Business

This is the Father’s gist to us, His children…

Heaven is looking for soul winners; people who will make heaven rejoice (Luke 15:7), people willing to totally submit to God’s authority ( Can heaven recommend you for this work?).
It’s not about been a christian, it’s about what your Christianity does in people’s life ( remember,  Christianity is a lifestyle, so, if people see you and cannot see Christ, then you’re not a christian). Christians behave like Christ; if you don’t, you don’t… Christianity is not about getting wealth, you can’t have what you already have; you can only have more, but in Christ, you have “most”!!! So, I don’t see a christian looking for what he already has in totality.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ”- Ephesians 1:3

The above scripture says “who has” not ‘who will”… Christianity is about taking it ( Yes and Amen ), Christianity is living the future in God’s past ( context; remember, we behave like Christ, which only means Christ must have first behaved in a way we are now following ).

     Exploring this scripture, for instance,
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus”- Philippians 4:19

Now, because your ministry as a christian is a take it ministry, doesn’t mean you will not work to get it. The above verse says, “shall” not “might”, which simply means whenever you’re ready to take it ( the work is you actually taking it, by the way), He is going to give you (because spiritually it has already been given and you have physically received it, what’s remaining now, is for you to take it ).

Kingdom business is about taking the souls God has won ( when he defeated the devil on the cross… this people have received their victory but the devil is deceiving them with various things, which blinds them from the truth of how easily they can access salvation in Christ Jesus), and bringing them back to him as His Holy Spirit works in you. As ambassadors of Christ, kingdom business entails heavenly connections; this is to say, living a life that connects people to God.

Answers For The Mind

“The saint and the sinner, who is more likely to make heaven? If the saint, who then is he but one that was a sinner. If this be true; what then makes you so sure, this sinner too won’t make heaven? Not as he is of-course, but as he would be when you correct and not condemn him, thus allowing God’s grace to fall on him”

Olabode Oluwatosin

“When faced with logical reasoning, what do you do? Do you pick Morals over Common sense or conscience over pity? While the former ( moral and conscience) represent Faith; in the sense that, you take your decision hoping to be justified, the latter (common sense and pity) represents Fact; in the sense that, you want to justify the person”
